It is a devotional ritual involving the chanting of a deity's 108 sacred names to invoke blessings, gain spiritual merit, and fulfil desires, with popular versions dedicated to deity Narayana offering benefits like wisdom, prosperity, and liberation, performed with offerings like Tulsi, flowers and lamps. "Ashtottara Shatanamavali" literally means "a garland of 108 names," a powerful practice to connect with the divine qualities of Rajgopalji Maharaj.

As per legend, Gopalji accept Goda Devi’s garlands with great joy, affirming her unique devotion. In line with this tradition during Dhanurmasa devotees specially girls can offer phoolhaar to Gopalji.

During Dhanurmasa as a part of ritual at Tirumala, priest recite Vishnusahasranamam (1000 names of the Lord) offering ‘Bilva’ Patras instead of ‘Tulsi’ to Shri Thakur Rajgopalji Maharaj.

Lord Krishna eat eight meals a day for seven days. When he lifted Goverdhan Parvat for 7 days he had not eaten anything as such villagers cooked a total of 56 dishes (8 meals × 7 days) in His honour, and thus was born the divine 56 Bhog tradition.
